Songs for Somalia
is a grassroots effort to raise money and awareness for
the famine victims of Somalia and throughout the Horn of
Africa region. All money raised will be donated to
the RED CROSS.
It is being called the
worst drought in over 60 years. Some 12.4 million people
in the Horn of Africa - including Somalia, Kenya,
Ethiopia and Djibouti - are affected by this
humanitarian crisis. Somalia is thought to be the
worst hit by the devastation. More than 25% of
Somalia's 7.5 million people are displaced. Tens of
thousands of people have already died.
The Red Cross is running
the East Africa Drought Appeal 2011 to provide drought
affected communities in Somalia and Kenya with emergency
relief including food, water and health assistance.
They have already provided assistance to more than
771,000 people. The Red Cross has workers on the
ground working to bring aide the people of the Somalia
and throughout the Horn of Africa.
Songs for Somalia will
bring together some of Atlanta, Georgia's most beloved
female musicians for one magical night, on one stage!
They are donating their time and talent to help the RED
CROSS bring famine and drought relief to this land and
hope to its people.
On September 22, 2011,
the stage at The Gathering Place Atlanta, will be filled
with the sound of music, community and hope.
Your help will make all
the difference!
A $10.00 ticket donation is
requested to help save lives and bring hope and
compassion where there is death, fear and starvation.
Thank you for helping us
spread the word.
